Make a dough by combining flour, warm water, salt and oil, kneading until smooth and elastic, then rest for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, sauté the shredded cabbage and onion in butter over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until soft and golden, seasoning with salt and pepper. Divide the dough into 4 balls and roll each very thin on a floured surface. Spread a quarter of the cabbage filling across each sheet, then roll tightly and coil into a spiral, tucking the end underneath. Place the spirals on a greased baking tray, brush with beaten egg, and bake at 190C for 40-45 minutes until deep golden brown. Cool slightly before serving warm.
