Place the unopened tin of sweetened condensed milk in a large saucepan and cover completely with water, ensuring the tin remains submerged throughout cooking. Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for 2-3 hours, checking every 30 minutes to top up the water level so the tin never becomes exposed. Remove from heat and allow the tin to cool completely in the water before opening. Once cooled, carefully open the tin and stir the thickened, caramel-coloured milk with a pinch of sea salt until smooth and well combined. Transfer to sterilised jars and store in a cool, dark place.
