Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil and add the hot dog sausages, simmering for 5-6 minutes until heated through. Alternatively, grill the sausages over medium heat for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally until browned. Whilst the sausages cook, lightly butter and warm the hot dog buns in a dry frying pan or toaster. Place each cooked sausage into a warm bun and top with ketchup, mustard, and diced onion according to preference. Serve immediately whilst the buns are still warm.
