Boil the potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them thoroughly. Finely chop the onions, green chillies, garlic, and coriander leaves, then combine with the mashed potatoes, flour, salt, and pepper to form a stiff dough. Shape the mixture into small balls or patties, roughly the size of golf balls. Heat the oil to 180°C in a deep pan and carefully fry the gateaux piment in batches until deep golden brown on all sides, approximately 3-4 minutes per batch. Drain on kitchen paper and serve hot with a spicy tomato sauce or chutney on the side.
