Method

Toast the bread slices lightly if preferred, or use fresh bread. Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice whilst still warm so it melts slightly and coats evenly. Layer your choice of sliced cheese such as Edam or Gouda, or thinly sliced cold meat like ham or salami between the two buttered slices. Cut diagonally into two triangles and serve immediately with a cup of coffee or milk.
