Soak the wheat grains overnight, then drain and cook in fresh water with salt for approximately 90 minutes until tender but not mushy. Meanwhile, pour boiling water over poppy seeds, let stand for 30 minutes, then grind them finely with a mortar and pestle, adding a little honey to make a paste. Roughly chop the dried apricots, raisins, and walnuts. Once the wheat is cooked and cooled, fold in the poppy seed paste, chopped dried fruit, nuts, and honey, mixing thoroughly. Serve at room temperature as a traditional Ukrainian Christmas Eve dessert or memorial dish.
